Unfinished Business

Viral stunt

Client: 20th Century Fox
Agency: McBeard
Role: Concept & Copywriter

In 2015, “Unfinished Business” hit theaters. The film starred Vince Vaughn as a small-business owner on an overseas sales trip. The release was preceded by a widely celebrated viral marketing stunt.

Working on the agency side, I pitched the idea of uploading set photography to stock photography websites. We presented the idea to 20th Century Fox, who partnered with Getty Images to bring it to life.

The execution proved a wild success that resulted in numerous press breaks, creative use of the stock photos by movie fans, and a lot of attention for an otherwise small-budget film.

Press Breaks

This stunt made waves in the press and was picked up by Adweek, Slate, The AV Club, HuffPo, and Mashable, to name just a few. Both entertainment and traditional journalism outlets covered the stunt, making it a true breakthrough.

 Brand Pickup

The photos were also used on a number of websites for the marketing efforts of brands and products. A true case of business synergy, our stock photos were used to showcase real world products and services, and in doing so, marketed the film.
